Exploring Tanzania: 5 ways to make the most of it

Tanzania is one of the most interesting and exciting East African countries. A land of vast wilderness, supreme natural beauty, and the stunning Great Lakes of the Rift Valley. There are plenty of wonderful places in the world to go wildlife spotting, and there are many opportunities to do this in Tanzania. Anyone with an interest in visiting Tanzania obviously has a love of naturally gorgeous surroundings, and countries with a lot of mystery to explore and uncover.

In fact, tourism in Tanzania saw an increase of around 13% a couple of years ago, and it remains a popular choice for tourists all over the world. If you are interested in exploring Tanzania, it is important that you know what there is to see and do here. This is why you should think about how you’re going to make the most of your trip to Tanzania. These are 5 excellent ways you can go about making the most of your journey to Tanzania right now.

1. Mount Kilimanjaro

If you like a challenge, Tanzania has plenty to offer, but perhaps none more impressive than the famed Mount Kilimanjaro. Standing at a majestic 5,895 meters above sea level, Kili is the highest mountain in Africa. If you want something a little different try taking the Shira Route up the western slope of the mountain, where you’ll go through five different temperature zones! Kilimanjaro is one of the most famous and impressive mountains in the world. This is one of the best ways of making the most of Tanzania and exploring this great nation and everything it has to offer.

2. Safari, Tanzania Style!

One of the most popular things to do here is to enjoy the ultimate safari experience in Tanzania. This is one of the most popular reasons why people flock to the country. Tourism is the leading economic sector in Tanzania, bringing in over $1b USD for the country, and safaris play a big part in this. With 29 game reserves to choose from, there is plenty on offer for those seeking a safari adventure. Pay a visit to Ngorongoro Conservation area, and, of course, the vibrant plains of the Serengeti National Park, home to the Great Migration, where you can also see the Big 5 on your safari Mecca.

3. Zanzibar

As the new go-to island escape in Tanzania, Zanzibar is popular among the tourist contingent. But this shouldn’t put you off going, as there is so much joy to experience in Zanzibar. Also known as Unguja, the island is well-known for its winding streets, mosques, the majestic 1883 House of Wonders, and the Old Fort of Zanzibar. Zanzibar would be the ideal choice for those seeking a day trip or any culture vultures out there who want to make sure they get an injection of heritage.

4. Gombe Stream National Park

Gombe Stream National Park is one of the Crown Jewels of Tanzania, but so few people actually take the time to visit. You need to get the full Tanzanian experience by checking out this gorgeous national park. Head to the iconic Lake Tanganyika, and you will get to see the sport where famous conservationist Jane Goodall lived among chimpanzees. You can also enjoy around 200 different species of bird, 20 primate species, and plenty of other wonderful animals too. As the smallest national park in Tanzania, it’s definitely a place that can be a little crowded, but it’s also a terrific choice for your trip.

5. Bring Your Family

Tanzania is one of the best places in Africa to bring your family and enjoy a magical time. There are so many wonderful things you can do, but a family safari might be a great place to start. There is a lot of magic here that you can experience, and the kids are going to have the time of their lives. Why not consider checking out the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti, and treat the whole family to an adventure they will never forget? Tanzania is a stunning location and the perfect place to get away as a family today!

These are just a few of the awesome ways you can explore and enjoy Tanzania differently. Sure, safaris play a massively important part in the culture of the nation, but they are not the only thing that the country has to offer. These are some of the great ideas that will provide you with the full Tanzanian experience. If you think of any more, please let us know in the comments section!
