The one about the beginning of The Altruistic Traveller

Hello friends,

This is my first post on my new blog. I am so excited to be sharing this news with you all. Finally after years of procrastinating, and deciding on the right course of action, I am taking a leap of faith and venturing out on a new adventure. One that will hopefully take me to many new places, meet many new people and share many amazing experiences with you all. I am leaving Australia indefinitely, to follow my heart and see the wonders that this world has to offer.

As you can see the underlining theme of my journey will be altruism. I came across the term after watching this TED talk on effective altruism. The term is defined as the “principle or practice of concern for the welfare of others”. I want to spend much of my time away visiting organisations that portray this characteristic and share with you stories of good will from around the globe because we sure don’t see enough of it in the media and I do know that it is out there.

I think there comes a time when we get to a fork in the road of life and you realise that you can stay comfortable doing something that is satisfactory, or you can step out of that comfort zone and do something that is extraordinary. This journey for me is a step outside of that comfort zone. If I succeed in doing something extraordinary then that would be wonderful, and if I fail at doing something extraordinary then that will be wonderful too, because either way I finally turned my dream into reality and that’s one of the greatest achievements of all.

I’m looking forward to sharing the rest of my journey with you all. The countdown begins on November 10th. 🙂
