This is a detailed guide on where to buy fair trade products in Sydney. The fair trade movement in Sydney is growing, thanks to a flourishing community of social entrepreneurs with visions to increase opportunities for marginalised people around the world. Many are part of the NSW Fair Trade Network Group – people from all sectors of the NSW community that seek to promote the fair trade movement.

The 10 principles of fair trade are outlined in the image below. All vendors and businesses mentioned in this post adhere to the 10 principles of fair trade in their own capacity.

Fair Trade at The Hill | Summer Hill

Fair Trade at The Hill is a store run by a group of women who work alongside the former Trading Circle staff to assist them with keeping fair trade alive and well in Sydney’s Summer Hill. They are passionate about fair trade, love the products they sell and know you will too.

Ethical By Nature | Paddington

Ethical By Nature is the retail shopfront for Apsara Ethical Gifts. They offer high-quality, unique, handmade fair trade, recycled and ethically produced gifts.

The Fair Trade Cove | Lane Cove

The Fair Trade Cove in Sydney’s Lane Cove stocks fair trade and ethically sourced fashion and homewares, as well as recycled/upcycled toys, jewellery, home and health products from Africa, Peru, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar, India and more.

The Elephant Emporium | Picton

The Elephant Emporium is a business born out of a love for South-East Asia. They source directly from producers in Thailand & Cambodia and stock a wide variety of exquisite Thai wood carvings & homewares, together with beautiful ladies fashion accessories.

The Possibility Project | Wahroonga

The Possibility Project is a Sydney based enterprise delivering restorative justice through fair trade products and education. The new shop is not only the home of an array of fair trade products, it also holds conscious events such as meditation and eco-conscious courses.

The Fair Trade Emporium | Marrickville

The Fair Trade Emporium is a collaboration of the NSW Fair Trade Network in conjunction with Addison Road Community Centre. It is located in “The Stone Shed” a former ammunition store on the grounds.

Global Conduct Fair Trade Pop-up | Balmain

Trading since 2006, Global Conduct Fair Trade is helping to reduce poverty in the world through fair trade. They occasionally run a pop-up market at Balmain’s Casual Mondays. Check their Facebook page for event dates.
